About OpenWatchdog
OpenWatchdog turns congressional voting records into something you can actually read.
Congress votes on thousands of bills. The data is public — but the experience is not. It's scattered across official sites, written in legislative language, and nearly impossible to scan quickly.
OpenWatchdog exists to make the record clear:
- What your representatives voted on
- How often they voted with (or against) their party
- What they missed
- The votes that matter most — in plain English
We don't do spin. We don't do partisan framing. We show the public record and summarize it so normal humans can understand it.
What we believe
- The public should be able to understand public votes.
- Accountability shouldn't require a law degree.
- Transparency works best when it's easy to share.
Where the data comes from
OpenWatchdog uses publicly available congressional data (including official congressional sources). We summarize and organize it for readability. If something ever looks off, we want to know — transparency only works if the record is accurate.
